Artistic trajectory
After years of painting and drawing, I have dedicated myself almost exclusively to engraving, in particular etching and wood engraving. I enjoy techniques that capture the marks of the present but also superimpose those of the past.
Etching gives me the ability to show the passage of time and the memory of things gone by. The path is often long from the beginning (creation of the plate) to the end (printing). Our intentions are sometimes contradicted by our materials (acids or other toxic chemicals, the resistance of the wood), but for my perspective, this tension allows me to express myself more deeply. I am also interested in the relationship between drawing and writing and in Inuit art. I often develop my works in series (as folds, landscapes, characters, alphabets) and artistic books (Racines du silence, Légendes inuit, Spirale, Lumière de l’ombre, etc.).
My current research revolves around writing, and probes at the limit of abstraction and figure (using human forms, animals and various alphabets).
